AMBER Alert resolved after 14-year-old found safe; Woman in custody

The teenage girl at the center of a statewide AMBER Alert issued Tuesday evening was found safe about an hour later.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Skylee Morgan, 14, was recovered after a vehicle stop in East Tennessee.

A driver reportedly called law enforcement in Georgia to report the vehicle at the center of the alert, a blue Subaru Impreza, was in front of her on Interstate 75 in Lenoir City. Authorities in Georgia then called TBI and the Subaru was ultimately pulled over by officers.

Morgan was found safe, and 21-year-old Emily Sherer was taken into custody. Authorities did not elaborate on Sherer’s relationship to the teen or if she will be charged.

Morgan was missing out of Gordon County, Georgia. The circumstances of her disappearance have yet to be released.
