Damage reported after strong storms push through Middle Tennessee

Damage was reported in parts of Middle Tennessee as strong storms with hail moved across Middle Tennessee late Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours.

The storms began just before 4 p.m. in southern parts of Middle Tennessee. Large hail was reported in several areas, including in Lewisburg, Pleasantville, Waynesboro and Hohenwald, among other places.

Damage was also reported in Rutherford County, where Sgt. Dan Goodwin told News 2 a portion of the roof was blown off Christiana Elementary School. Nearby on South Church Street, a tractor-trailer was blown onto an SUV near Interstate 24 West.

Trees and lines were also reported down in Rutherford County. High winds also blew down tree limbs in neighboring Bedford County.

So far, there have not been any reports of injuries.

Power outages were also reported. As of 6 p.m., Middle Tennessee Electric reported more than 2.800 customers without power. Click here to view the outage map.
