DOWNTOWN MURFREESBORO BUSINESS ASSOCIATION TO CELEBRATE OKTOBERFEST WITH A FREE SCAVENGER HUNT SATURDAY, SEPT. 23

The Downtown Murfreesboro Business Association will celebrate Oktoberfest Saturday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with a scavenger hunt through downtown Murfreesboro hosted by new Murfreesboro business Wild Goose Chase.

“We hope people in Murfreesboro and beyond will participate in our free Oktoberfest scavenger hunt for
business discounts, prizes and lots of fun,” said Deneen Glidwell, owner of DreamingInColor, a locally
owned shop located at 504 N. Maney Ave. Glidwell serves on the board of the Downtown Murfreesboro
Business Association. “The scavenger hunt is a family event geared toward children, teens, parents, people of all ages.”

The event is Saturday, Sept. 23, and all participating stores will be open from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. All ages are
welcome; the scavenger hunt is free to the public and fun for the whole family. Each store will offer
discounts during the day to participants and will receive a special that-day-only coupon at the end of the
scavenger hunt entitling the bearer to 25% off any one item at one of the participating stores. All
participants will spend time visiting stores in downtown Murfreesboro looking for specific items, collecting stamps and enjoying the fall décor, including personalized scarecrows at each store. You can pick up your Wild Goose Chase list at DreamingInColor starting at 10 a.m. through 3 p.m.

Murfreesboro’s downtown businesses are taking part in the Oktoberfest Celebration in partnership with
Oaklands Mansion, which is hosting its 3rd annual Oktoberfest brewers event that evening beginning at 5
p.m. Oaklands Mansion 3rd Annual Oktoberfest features food, music and craft beer.

“There are so many people who come to Oaklands Mansion to celebrate Oktoberfest, and we believe
visitors and residents can enjoy our downtown businesses during the day before celebrating at Oaklands
Mansion that evening. What a great way to spend the day with friends and family,” Glidwell added.

Wild Goose Chase is a locally owned business that hosts scavenger hunts all over town. “One of the main
reasons I started this business was to create an opportunity for people to visit places they may have never
seen before.There are so many great businesses here in our backyard, and I love focusing on local,” said
Missy Lay, owner of Wild Goose Chase and a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. “Supporting small
businesses and shopping at locally owned businesses puts money right back into the community, which
benefits all of us.”
