LAVERGNE MIDDLE SCHOOL CELEBRATES A DECADE OF SERVICE WITH PROJECT FEED

Principal Cary Holman started Project Feed in 2007 as tactic to help students, parents, community members, school administration, faculty and staff celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday with a heartfelt home-cooked meal.

The uniqueness of Project Feed is, the entire meal is provided, prepared and served by stakeholders in the community, students, school administration, faculty and staff. Students are taught during the course of the school day, how to prepare food (Turkey, Ham and Dressing). Each grade level is responsible for bringing a variety of canned vegetables, student organizations sponsor meats, administration, faculty and staff members donate deserts and beverages. Local businesses support this effort with monetary or other food donations that contributes to the success of this awesome meal each year. Project Feed has provided over eight thousand meals.

For the 10-year Celebration of Service, Principal Holman is challenging public education supporters in the community and surrounding areas, Tennessee’s professional sports teams, local and state leaders or anyone interested in helping serve meals or just fellowship on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 starting at 3:45 PM. This event is free and open to the public.
