MPD To Increase DUI Enforcement Labor Day Weekend

The Murfreesboro Police Department will be partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office
(THSO) to stop drunk drivers this Labor Day holiday weekend through the “Drive Sober or Get
Pulled Over” campaign. Officers will be focused on enforcing traffic laws and looking for violations
consistent with impaired driving.
“Drunk driving is not acceptable behavior,” said Chief Karl Durr. “It is essential to be responsible
and plan a sober ride home from wherever you celebrate this long weekend. There are no
excuses for drinking and driving. MPD officers will make no exceptions if you are caught drunk
behind the wheel.”
Extra officers will be patrolling in marked and unmarked police vehicles Friday through Monday. If
a driver spots a vehicle driving recklessly, the non-emergency number to Police Dispatch is 615-
893-1311.
