Ford of Murfreesboro Officer of the Month

Taking time to help a citizen with a medical condition earned a sheriff’s deputy honors as Officer of the Month for January from Ford of Murfreesboro.

Deputy Teresa Reed was selected for going above and beyond the call of duty numerous times such as helping a citizen with multiple sclerosis who had dropped her groceries.

“I saw the groceries all over the ground and stopped and helped her pick everything up and carry the groceries into her house,” Reed said.

General Manager Jason Borowski of Ford of Murfreesboro presented a watch to Reed.

“It’s always very refreshing to hear of an officer who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help others in need,” Borowski said. “In a time where hatred is seen everywhere, knowing that Officer Reed shows compassion and care for the individuals of this county shows me that love and kindness outweigh any negativity that may darken our days. I commend her for her selflessness and appreciate the things she is doing.”

Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said he received several commendations for Reed for checking on the citizens she encounters and showing care for people.

One citizen wrote a letter commending her for the way she worked a crash involving his wife. A month later, he saw Reed carrying in groceries for his mother.

“Deputy Reed exemplifies the ‘serve and protect’ goal of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in her every day duties,” Fitzhugh said. “She shows compassion and care for the citizens she encounters. We commend her for her actions.”
