Rutherford Habitat’s Big Payback

Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity (RCHFH) is excited to join forces again with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT) as part of their fourth annual Big Payback one-day online giving campaign. This year donations to RCHFH’s Big Payback campaign will go towards the “Women Build” and offer a way for donors to honor women in their lives.

In the days leading up to and including The Big Payback, May 3rd, donors can submit their donation pledge to RCHFH for the event and a photo and description of the woman they’d like to honor. So far pledges have honored wives, mothers, sisters, daughters and even friends and co-workers. The tributes are displayed on RCHFH’s website, http://rchfh.org/eventdetails.asp?id=51, and shared in social media.

In addition to participating in the Big Payback campaign, RCHFH will also attend The Big Payback Rutherford Rally at Cannonsburgh Village on May 3, 11am – 1pm. The free event will include booths, food trucks, giveaways and entertainment. WGNS Radio Station, will broadcast the Bryan Barrett Show live from the Big Payback Rutherford Rally event location from 10am-11am. RCHFH is proud to present Habitat Homeowner and singer Nikki Newbold at the event.

Nikki and her husband Zach are music professionals known as The Newbolds. Nikki will sing some songs from their new album, “Scandalous Love” (https://thenewbolds.bandcamp.com )

A video for RCHFH’s involvement in The Big Payback event, “My Legacy”, features children who are growing up in Habitat homes, including Nikki Newbold playing with her kids in the front yard of her Habitat house. RCHFH has built 145 homes, including those in construction stages as of April, since being founded as a Habitat for Humanity International affiliate in 1989.

The Big Payback, is a 24-hour, online giving event created to help Middle Tennessee nonprofits raise funds vital to continuing their work and directly improving the community around them. This is the third year that Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity is taking part in the event.

Presented by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, this region’s dedicated day of giving begins at midnight on Wednesday, May 3 and runs for 24 hours. Once the clock starts, anyone can visit TheBigPayback.org and make donations to Habitat for Humanity – Rutherford County and other participating nonprofits – including schools and religious institutions – serving the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee. Donors can view and select from participating organizations based on location and focus area, such as animals, education, healthcare and more, and support multiple nonprofits with gifts from $10 and up. The RCHFH page is: https://www.thebigpayback.org/RutherfordHabitatForHumanity

The Big Payback has made a tremendous impact on the Middle Tennessee community, helping raise more than $6.75 million for area organizations during the last three years of giving days. Last year RCHFH raised over $3000 for the Thrivent Builds “Faith Build” and Habitat house construction on East Castle Street in Murfreesboro.

Gifts from the public during The Big Payback are boosted with funds from sponsors of the event, which provide multiple opportunities for RCHFH to vie for financial incentives and additional prizes. The real-time leaderboard hosted on TheBigPayback.org tracks donations and creates additional excitement surrounding the day. “Nonprofits do important, life-changing work every day across Middle Tennessee,” said Ellen Lehman, president of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. “The Big Payback has become an exciting opportunity for us to come together as a community to support their efforts and recognize the positive impact they have on our neighbors. It’s an easy, fun and a meaningful way for us to show our local pride, give back, and make an enormous impact in the process.”
