Tennessee Among States Cracking Down on Traffic Violations This Week

Law enforcement agencies in Tennessee and four other Southern states start a special week-long traffic campaign today to reduce speeding.

Dubbed “Operation Southern Shield,” the effort aims to reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and fatalities in a “crack down” on motorists ignoring safety laws.

The campaign is taking place in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina.

In Rutherford County, the sheriff’s office states they will be focusing on speeding to slow drivers down. Message boards will be utilized of the dangers of speeding and penalties. The RCSO will place a focus on troubled areas including Shelbyville Pike and Lebanon Pike.

Other agencies in the state will also take part in the five state operation.
