26-Year-Oevades Arrest After Metro Police Manhunt in Donelson

An attempted homicide suspect is wanted after Metro police say he evaded arrest Tuesday afternoon in Donelson.

Tommie Bowie, 26, is accused of physically assaulting his girlfriend on July 9 and firing at least one shot toward her.

According to authorities, he was riding in a car on Briley Parkway near McGavock Pike when the driver noticed a police helicopter above shortly after 1:40 p.m.

Metro police told News 2 the driver apparently got nervous and somehow crashed the car, which then ignited in flames on Briley Parkway.

The driver, whose identity remains unknown, was taken into custody. It’s unclear if charges will be filed.

Bowie got away after running toward McGavock Pike, prompting a heavy response from Metro police, who flooded the area with officers.

Authorities used both a helicopter and K-9 units on the ground to search for Bowie in the area of Waffle House and what is now the Catholic Pastoral Center.

The 26-year-old was able to evade arrest. Anyone who recognizes him and knows his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
