5th Annual Winner’s Circle Art Exhibition at MTSU

The MTSU Department of Art and Design announces Winner’s Circle 2018, an invitational showcase of artworks from the Kindergarten through 12th grade students of Murfreesboro City Schools, Rutherford County Schools, area private schools like Saint Rose of Lima, and community home-schoolers.

Scheduled May 11-19, 2018, a closing Awards Reception is planned Saturday, May 19, 1:00 p.m., MTSU, Todd Hall, Room 224A. This year marks the first effort to incorporate the gallery exhibition into the hallways and other surrounding display spaces of Todd Hall so that each work is distinctively placed for viewing.

Nicole Foran, Department Chair will select a MTSU Arts Best of Show Award, five Awards of Excellence, and 10 Awards of Merit across five age groups; Kindergarten–2nd Grades, 3rd–5th Grades, 6th–8th Grades, 9th–10th, and 11th–12th Grades. Serving as Master of Ceremonies Ms. Foran will deliver brief comments about art and design programs including Art Education, Graphic Design, and Studio Art before presenting her selections. Attendees will also be treated to a catered ice cream bar.

At 2:00 p.m., everyone is invited to experience Saturdays at Todd, a faculty led initiative designed to expand our community engagement in and around Murfreesboro. This includes Hands-on Wheel throwing demonstrations with audience participation in Todd Hall, Room 224A led by Art and Design alum Jonathan Griffith and Kay Currie and Raku firing demonstrations from Lewis D. Snyder and Jim Carson located in the courtyard between Todd Hall and Keathly University Center (KUC).

The MTSU Department of Art and Design owes a special thanks to the Center for the Arts, Murfreesboro Art Committee, and all participating art teachers and supporters for their contribution to this effort to recognize our community’s remarkable student talent.

All Todd Art Gallery exhibits and receptions are free and open to the public. For more questions, directions, and parking 615-898-5532.
