911 Center Employees Are Now Train-the-Trainer CIT Certified
Murfreesboro Emergency Communications Center Emergency Operations Coordinator Becki Green and Communications Specialist II Brady Lutton are now 911 CIT certified through the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board and NAMI, in collaboration with Virginia’s Thomas Jefferson Area Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program.
Green and Lutton took part in the CIT Train-the-Trainer Course at the Williams County Public Safety Center on May 18 – 19.
Topics covered in the training included: The role of 911 in a mental health crisis response system | Indications of mental health disorders | Suicide assessment and intervention | Understanding the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) model | Crisis intervention strategies and community resources | Scenario-based training.
Brady and Green will join others across the state who are now certified to teach other 911 dispatchers to be able to assist mental health clients more efficiently.
