SRO Matthew Arrington recognized with Letter of Commendation
On September 30, Deputy Matthew Arrington, School Resource Officer at Siegel High School, quickly responded when a student approached him showing signs of choking.
Recognizing the emergency, Deputy Arrington immediately began delivering back blows to dislodge the obstruction. When the student continued to choke, he continued his efforts until a large piece of sandwich was dislodged and the student was able to breathe.
Deputy Arrington then escorted the student to the school’s medical office for further care.
Deputy Arrington’s actions are a reminder of the difference our School Resource Officers make by building relationships with students, protecting our schools, and being ready to step in when a student needs them the most.
