Adventures in Agriculture, Free Family Event, to Be Held April 4th at Lane Agri-Park

Adventures in Agriculture will be held April 4th, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lane Agri-Park in Murfreesboro. Lane Agri-Park is located at 315 John Rice Boulevard, just past Sam’s Club and Tractor Supply. The purpose of the annual event is to educate the Rutherford County community about local agriculture. Children and families will be able to meet farmers and learn more about animals, crops, homegrown foods, handmade products, and more. This event, hosted by members and partners of the Rutherford County agriculture community, provides many hands-on activities to teach families about agriculture’s impact on our everyday lives.

Adventures in Agriculture has something for families and children of all ages. Children can collect stamps on their Adventures in Agriculture passport and receive a prize for a completed passport. Children of all ages can play “My American Farm” in our tablet lab, pet live animals, drink MTSU milk, harvest crops on a combine simulator, color a quilt square, and plant a seed to take home. Adults and children alike will have the opportunity to learn heritage skills, such as butter making and spinning yarn. Parents can learn more about growing vegetables at home from our Master Gardeners. There will be plenty of games, food, and information. Lunch will be available for purchase and proceeds will benefit the Rutherford County 4-H.

The event is free and open to the public, but we will be taking canned food donations for the Nourish Food Bank at registration. The first twenty teachers within Rutherford County to register will receive a $20 gift certificate from a local teacher’s store and other teaching resources. This free family fun day for all ages will take place rain or shine, with many activities indoors. Don’t miss it!
