Bartch named Middle Grand Division Principal of the Year
Don Bartch has been named as 2023-24 Principal of the Year Middle Grand Division winner by the Tennessee Department of Education. The Tennessee Principal of the Year awards are given annually to 3 school leaders, one in each of Tennessee’s three grand divisions. Recipients are selected for their outstanding service in education and exceptional leadership that drives overall improvements in his or her school.
“I am thrilled that Mr. Bartch received this distinguished award,” says Dr. Trey Duke, Director of Schools. “Don’s leadership has helped our district flourish and grow. He has a passion for excellence and his commitment to our students and staff is undeniable.”
Bartch joined Murfreesboro City Schools in 2005 and played key roles in the building and opening of Scales Elementary and Overall Creek Elementary. He has since led Overall Creek to become one of the first elementary schools to be given the Tennessee STEM designation. As a proven administrator, Bartch serves as a mentor to new principals and has served as host for over 40 schools and districts seeking information on STEM education and accreditation.
In 2023, Bartch was named Assistant Superintendent of School Operations for MCS. He now coordinates, oversees, and provides administrative direction and supervision for the district’s school operations departments which include the Human Resources, ESP, Nursing, Security, Transportation, and Maintenance departments as well as all other school operation programs.
