Bill Council Obituary

Bill Council, age 95, was born in Almaville, Tennessee to parents, Nannie Bell and Clinton Council. Bill was the oldest of five children. His brothers and sister are Hubert, Ruric, Jim, and Mildred.

Bill married Annelle Jones in February of 1947. They had three children together, Janice Ann, Julia Marie, and Kenneth Wayne. They enjoyed a happy 48 years together.

Bill was an owner and operator of several gas and wrecker service stations in Nashville thru the 1970’s. Upon retirement, Bill continued to work part-time as a dispatcher for West Nashville Wrecker Service with his friend and owner Lindell Greer.

Bill was a fifty plus year member of the Masons in Doric Lodge F & AM #732 and was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason, and proud member of Al Menah Shriners Temple. He was also a past member of the Order of The Eastern Star Doric Lodge #321.

He is survived by his brother, James “Jim” Council; grandchildren, Michael Ezell, Amy Huff McCreight, and Elizabeth Council; two great-grandsons; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Annelle; his three children; two brothers; and his sister.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday with burial following in Mapleview Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. An online guestbook is available for the Council family at www.woodfinchapel.com.
