Books for First Responders to Give Children In Crisis Book Fair
This Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, Barnes & Noble at The Avenue is sponsoring a Book Fair for the Woman’s Club of Murfreesboro and their Rescue Readers Project. The Rescue Readers Project provides books for local first responders to distribute to children they encounter who are affected by fires or other emergencies; to provide comfort while they are in the most stressful of circumstances. The Woman’s Club of Murfreesboro is partnering with RCFR to raise funds for these books, which will be placed on county apparatus. On Saturday, RCFR will have fire engines parked in front of Barnes & Noble, and Chief Larry Farley along with other crew members will be reading stories.
To participate in the Book Fair, all you have to do is shop! Bring your family and friends, finish your Mother’s Day shopping, find that perfect gift for a graduate, a new read for yourself, or even grab a cup of coffee in the cafe! Just tell the cashier you are supporting the Woman’s Club and a portion of the proceeds for those sales go to the organization.
The Woman’s Club of Murfreesboro was incorporated and chartered in 1916. This July they will celebrate their 103rd anniversary of promoting reading, literacy and volunteer services for a wide variety of social needs in Rutherford county; such as The Rescue Readers Project.
