Celebration Under the Stars 2018

The City of Murfreesboro’s “Celebration Under the Stars” will be held at McKnight Park on Wednesday, July 4. The day’s activities begin at the outdoor pool at Sports*Com at 10 a.m. with a pool party until 4:30 p.m. – Admission is $5.00 for youth and seniors/$7.00 for adults. The evening activities in McKnight Park begin at 5:00 p.m. with live bands and admission to the family-oriented events will be free of charge.

From 5-8 p.m., there will be family activities, as well as inflatables. Bands performing on stage are Roanoke from 5-5:45 p.m., Alanna Royale from 6-6:45 p.m., Love Canon from 7-8:30 p.m. Perform Murfreesboro Choir will present a program of traditional patriotic tunes from 8:30-8:45 p.m., and Miles Creed will perform during the fireworks from 9-9:30 p.m. The fireworks display by Pyro Shows will light up the sky at 9 p.m.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation is excited about this year’s live band line-up. Roanoke is a rising Folk/Americana band based out of Nashville, TN. Lead by Joey Beesley and Taylor Dupuis, the two come together to create rich harmonies and unforgettable songs of love, heartbreak, and exploration.

Alanna Royale makes classic-minded R&B and soul music for the modern age. It’s a sound rooted in big melodies, blasts of brass, percussive punch, and old-school grooves, with songs that shine a light not only on frontwoman Alanna Quinn-Broadus’ larger-than-life voice, but her songwriting chops, too.

LOVE CANON brings their acoustic-roots sensibilities to the electronic-tinged pop hits of the 80’s and 90’s to create Cover Story, their 4th album, due out on Organic Records July 13, 2018. With Cover Story, LOVE CANON delivers a fresh set of classics, crossing genres to recount music of decades past from the likes of Peter Gabriel, Billy Joel, Depeche Mode, and Paul Simon.

Miles Creed is a true inspirational artist. He not only rap, he’s an exceptional artist who plays piano, saxophone and who fell in love with the drums at an early age. Miles is an amazing producer and musician who is determined to create a new sound wave.

For parking, please enter the entrances for McKnight Park off DeJarnette Lane. Please note that parking within McKnight Park will be limited with less spots available. The parking lot in the rear of the park will be closed for the fireworks staging area due to growth at the airport. The DeJarnette Lane exit will be available at all times and the Airport Road exit will be available once the area is cleared by Pyro Shows, an estimated 20-30 minutes. Parking will not be permitted on DeJarnette Lane or Memorial Blvd. Friends and families are encouraged to carpool to maximize the parking available.

For safety purposes, organizers would like to remind everyone that pets, alcoholic beverages, cooking grills and personal fireworks or sparklers are not permitted on the celebration site. In addition, banners and signs from outside groups, other than the evening’s sponsors, will not be allowed on the grounds. Families are encouraged, however, to bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs, and blankets for picnicking on the grass. Various food vendors will sell soft drinks, pizza, hotdogs, and other traditional snacks and desserts.

Sponsors of the event include the City of Murfreesboro, Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, Murfreesboro Police Department, and Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department.
