City offices closing in observance of Thanksgiving
City Hall and most other city offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. St. Clair Street Senior Center will be closed Monday, Nov. 25-Sunday, Dec.1. Rover, the City’s public transportation system, will not run on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov 29.
The Solid Waste Department will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28. There will be no garbage pick-up on Thanksgiving Day. Thursday garbage pick-up will be Wednesday, November 27, and Friday’s garbage pick-up will run as usual on Nov. 29.
All Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department facilities will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 including: Barfield Crescent Wilderness Station, Cannonsburgh Village, McFadden Community Center, Patterson Park Community Center, Bradley Academy Museum, Adams Tennis Complex and Sports*Com. The Parks & Recreation Main Office will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 29.
McFadden Community Center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 27. Adams Tennis Complex, Patterson, Sports*Com, Wilderness Station, and Cannonsburgh Village will resume regular hours on Friday., Nov. 29.
OId Fort and VA Golf Courses will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, but open Friday. Nov. 29. After daylight savings time ends, Nov. 3, Bloomfield Links Golf Course will be open, weather permitting through the winter, but with limited access to the parking lot which will be open on weekends only. During the week, Monday-Friday, Bloomfield Links must be accessed by walking from the Old Fort Golf clubhouse.
According to AAA, “More than 55 million travelers (1.3 million Tennesseans) are making plans to kick off the holiday season with a trip of 50 miles or more away from home this Thanksgiving. . . the second-highest Thanksgiving travel volume since AAA began tracking in 2000, trailing only the record set in 2005.”
