Deployment canceled; Murfreesboro firefighters returning home

A group of Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) firefighters, deployed to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, is returning home after being told the task force team was not needed.

MFRD Captain Brian Burgess, Captain Gary Hutchinson, and Firefighter Justin Anderson, part of the Tennessee Task Force 2 group, were notified of the cancelation after arriving in Mississippi. The task force was informed that the storm moved out quicker than expected, and the storm surge was not as high as predicted.

The MFRD firefighters should arrive in Murfreesboro around 10:00 p.m. Thursday.
