Devin Bond update

An investigation into a missing Rutherford County high school student showed he apparently planned to run away and packed his clothes, a sheriff’s detective said.

Devin Bond, 16, of Armor Place, disappeared March 31, said Detective Will Pinson, who is investigating.

A close friend said Devin expressed an interest in running away before and living as a homeless person, Pinson said. He packed a bag prior to leaving and stuffed pillows and blankets in his bed to show he was still there.

Devin’s mother told Pinson her son took a black Nike drawstring backpack, a red and gray North Face pullover jacket, a gray and white Nike hooded sweatshirt and a khaki pants.

“There is nothing to suggest foul play was involved,” Pinson said. “We still want to locate Devin.”

Once he was reported missing, sheriff’s deputies and detectives, Murfreesboro Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol began searching immediately on foot for several days, with drones and the THP helicopter and with K-9 tracks. They canvassed area businesses for possible video of Devin.

Community volunteers searched several days around Barfield Crescent Park in an effort to locate Devin.

Since then, Pinson and other detectives interviewed Devin’s parents. His mother was sleeping and his father was at work when Devin left the house.

Detectives interviewed Devin’s close friends, students he attended school with at Riverdale High School and the homeless community in Murfreesboro.

“We’ve responded to dozens of tips,” Pinson said. “We still want to locate Devin.”

People who have any sightings of the teen are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office immediately at 615-898-7770.
