Donald Alger Obituary
Mr. Donald “Don” Charles Alger passed away peacefully at home, following an extended illness, surrounded by his wife, daughter-in-law, and loving caregiver. Don was born August 25, 1932 in Griffith, IN to the late Earle and Myrtle Alger. He attended high school at Lew Wallace High School where he proudly played clarinet in the band and was a member of their golf team. After studying industrial engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, he worked in production management. Don was also a proud US Army veteran, serving at Ft. Chaffee, AK during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, Don went on to a career in financial services and later real estate. Don was an avid golfer, but also loved music, travel, and watching his beloved Cubbies. He was a member of Northside Church in Murfreesboro.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Eleanor; sons, Donnie Alger of Coral Springs, FL; Jeffrey Alger and his wife Jane of Brentwood, TN; daughters, Laura Cockrell and her husband Sonny of Spring Hill, TN and Sandra Corser of Coral Springs, FL; as well as 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; and extended family, Laura Coppage and her husband Kevin of Murfreesboro TN, their two sons, and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by brother, Raymond, and first wife, Eva Pavela.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2:00pm at Woodfin Funeral Chapel.
