Doss Anthony Alexander obituary
Doss Anthony Alexander, age 74 of Murfreesboro passed away Saturday September 1, 2018 at Community Care of Rutherford County. He was a native of Trion, GA and was preceded in death by his wife of 51years, Barbara Ann George Alexander; parents, Fay Linly Alexander, and Mary Becker Alexander; sisters, Faye Fite, and Marjorie Davis; great-grandson, Benjamin Reece Nichols.
Mr. Alexander in his teen years, lived in Pennsylvania before settling in Murfreesboro. Doss worked several years as a butcher in grocery stores, He and his wife then operated Alexander’s Market on Bridge Avenue for many years. He loved the community of Westvue and made many long lasting friendships during his time there. Later in life Mr. Alexander became a mail carrier until retirement. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a 1962 graduate of Central High School. Mr. Alexander was an avid golfer and Vanderbilt Commodore Fan.
Mr. Alexander is survived by daughter, Jennie (Rick) Howse and; sons, Bodie (Cassie) Pitts, Jr. of Murfreesboro, Mike (Mitch)Alexander of Christiana; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister Marlene (Howard) Hewgley of Georgia; sister-in-law, Carolyn Moore of Murfreesboro. He also leaves behind his constant companion, a yellow tabby cat named Goldie. Doss loved his family more than anything and always put them before himself.
The family would like to thank everyone at Community Care of Rutherford County for the amazing care of our dad. We can not thank you enough. A special thank you to all the nurses, techs, and residents of J & K Hall. You have become like a second family to us. We love you all.
