Economic Development Specialist Receives Certification
La Vergne’s economic development specialist is now one of only a few dozen Tennessee Certified Economic Developers within the state. Thomas Broeker was part of the latest graduating class in September. Only 73 people in the state who have earned the Tennessee Certified Economic Developer (TCEcD) designation.
“I have a great sense of pride in completing the University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services (UT-CIS) certified economic developer program,” says Broeker. “To be instructed by the best economic developers throughout the state and country and now carry the same designation as them is truly an honor.”
The UT-CIS offers this International Economic Development Council (IEDC) certified course. This designation is given to candidates that complete 92 hours of economic development coursework over a two year period as well as a Capstone Project which includes an oral and written presentation which applies knowledge gained throughout the program.
“I could not be more proud of Thomas Broeker,” says Mayor Jason Cole. “Thomas continues to show his excellence in economic recruiting and raising the standards that he provides to our residents.”
