Mrs. Grace “Evelene” Bowman Burns obituary
Mrs. Grace “Evelene” Bowman Burns of Rockvale, TN passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018 on her 76th birthday. She was born in Rutherford County, TN to the late J.H. and Lizzie Hall McCrary Bowman. Mrs. Burns was a 1961 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School. She was a member of Rockvale Church of God. Mrs. Burns dedicated her life to caring for children. She served in the nursery at Rockvale Church of God for 25 years, was a substitute teacher for Rutherford County Schools for 16 years, and worked as the afternoon preschool director at First United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro for 10 years.
Mrs. Burns is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Carl Burns; children, Ivie Burns, II and his wife Stephanie of Eagleville, TN and Robbie Burns of Rockvale; grandchildren, Ivie, III and Ellie; sister, Dorene Potts of Shelbyville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Elliott Bowman, and a sister, Clara Delffs.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 3:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Pastor Tony Anderson will officiate. Burial will take place in Burns Cemetery in Rockvale. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
