2017 Greenway Art Festival at Old Fort Park Sept 16

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Greenway Arts Festival at Old Fort Park along the Stones River Greenway on September 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The 15th annual event is located at the Old Fort Park trailhead, 916 Golf Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.

Talented local artists from the Middle Tennessee area will display and sell their creative work along the Greenway trail at Old Fort Park. Patrons can browse through over 70 booths of original artwork in a family-friendly park setting. Paintings, pottery, sculpture, glassware, jewelry, and other original artwork will be available, as well as kids’ art activities.

“The Greenway Art Festival is a great place to obtain local art for yourself or as a gift,” said Melinda Tate, Greenway Program Coordinator. “It’s all in one place, and the stroll on the Greenway trail through the park is always fun and relaxing.”

Patrons can browse through booths of original artwork and crafts produced by some of the finest artists in Middle Tennessee. The family-friendly setting along Spring Branch Creek of includes food vendors, kids’ art activities, and live music.

The Todd London Trio will take the stage in the food court at noon, and the Coral Bay Steel Drums will entertain the crowd in the Kids’ Area at 2:00 p.m. Food vendors include Cousin’s Maine Lobster, Yayo’s Original Mexican Gourmet, Chicken Shack Express Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, McCleary’s Kettle Corn, and Miss Pokey’s Lemonade.

This is a juried festival and is sponsored by Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department and Friends of the Greenway. Parking and attendance are free, and pets on leashes are welcome. Ginny Togrye, the 2017 Murfreesboro Painter Laureate, provided the artwork for this year’s festival poster. A limited number will be available for a small donation at the Friends of the Greenway tent.

In the event of heavy rains, the festival will be canceled. The event will not be rescheduled or moved to an indoor location.
