“Peace of Mind”: Exhibit on the Art of the Chinese Qin

This is a rare exhibit focusing on the Chinese qin, a seven-string fret-less zither, that was considered the highest form of music in China. The qin was studied and formed by literati for self-introspection and personal advancement. The exhibit will feature instruments, displays or demonstrations of instrument-making, calligraphy, the tea ceremony, sung poetry, and go (chess). The exhibition will be accompanied by live performance of Zheng Yi, Huang Zhilu, and Wang Xiqian, three qin artists from the Longren Guqin Culture Village in Fujian, China.
