Recruit class Rutherford County Young Marines

Rutherford County Young Marines is pleased to announce that we will be holding new Recruit Registration for our fall class of 2019.
The Young Marines is a youth education and service program for boys and girls, ages 8 through completion of high school. The Young Marines promotes the mental, moral, and physical development of its members. The program focuses on character building, leadership, and promotes a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
The Young Marines train once per month for an overnight drill at the Smyrna National Guard Reservist Joint Training Center where activities range from physical training, leadership, academics and safety.
Registration will take place on September 21, 2019. At 0900 aboard the Volunteer Training Site in Smyrna, TN. Parents will have to show their ID at the Main Gate and advise they are here for the Young Marines.
The following is a list of required documents that will have to be turned in at Recruit Registration. Please bring copies not the original.
- Birth certificate
- Current Health Insurance Card
- Copy of latest School or athletic physical.
- Parent or Guardian must know the Recruits Social Security Number for the Registration process.
Initial Registration Cost is $85.00.
The Registration Package is lengthy and needs to be completed in its entirety. You can email the Public Relations officer – [email protected] – for a Registration Package and gear list. Registration and Orientation will last about 2 hours.
Recruits will be spending the night aboard the Volunteer Training Site. Recruits will be picked up on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 1300 Hours at the same location where you checked in.
As Young Marines, the youths:
* Practice leadership.
* Achieve certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
* Participate in physical fitness to improve their lifestyle.
* Undergo classroom instruction on the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
* Do cleanup work to give back to the community.
* Take classes in principles of leadership and public speaking.
* Complete teamwork exercises to adapt the concept of collecting ideas together.
The Young Marines operated on a rank structure where youths must advance through hard, work, dedication, training and talents.
