Women in Public Service: Serving on Boards & Commissions

August 8, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Women comprise 51% of the population but only about 20% of elected offices in America; Tennessee ranks in the bottom 10 states for percentage of women in the legislature. One good place for women to begin their public service is on a local board or commission. In this panel, we’ll

– review the application process for a board or commission in Murfreesboro and Rutherford County. How do you learn about these opportunities? What’s the interview process like?
– learn about the current involvement of women on board and commissions locally
– and hear from female board and commission members and other public servants on their experience

We’ll be sharing more details soon.

While this session is particularly focused on informing and encouraging women, all are welcome.
