Fatality crash – F.A.C.T. Investigation 18-16485

On Saturday, July 28, 2018, at approximately 3:00 pm, Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of New Salem Highway and Pusher Place. The crash involved a 2016 Ford Edge and a bicyclist. The investigation revealed both vehicles were travelling southwest on New Salem Highway when the bicyclist swerved into the car’s path.

The bicyclist was flown from the scene to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFlight.
He was pronounced deceased at Vanderbilt a short time later.

The bicyclist is identified as Samuel Ledbetter (dob 11/20/1947) of Rockvale, TN.

The driver of the Ford Edge is identified as Michael Becker (dob 9/26/1964) also of Rockvale. He was not injured.

No charges have been filed at this time, however the investigation is ongoing.
