Feb. 9 Boro Art Crawl to celebrate Chinese New Year in downtown Murfreesboro
To celebrate the Chinese New Year, the Boro Art Crawl, set for Feb. 9, will have a special dragon dance performance in downtown Murfreesboro. The performance is made possible through a partnership with MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture as part of the Murfreesboro Festival of Chinese Arts.
The dragon dance will performed around the Public Square in front of the historic Courthouse. There will also be a special exhibit at the Center for the Arts on College Street.
Since 2018 is the year of the dog, the Boro Art Crawl will feature several pet-related artists. Pet rescues will also be on hand.
Participating venues include Center for the Arts, Bella’s Boutique, Boutique at Studio C, City Rotunda, Earth Experience, Funtiques, L&L Contractors, Let’s Make Wine, Liquid Smoke, Moxie, Quinn’s Mercantile, Reed and Embry, ReVintaged Lemon. Sugaree’s, The Exchange Boutique, The Write Impression, Trendy Pieces, Veda’s Flowers and Gifts, Vibe in the Boro.

MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture’s inaugural Murfreesboro Festival of Chinese Arts opens at the Center for the Arts with its Chinese Art exhibit, where visiting professors will lead workshops on Chinese calligraphy, traditional and modern painting, and philosophy. Other festival events include a discussion by Grammy-award winning musician Abigail Washburn, a Dragon Dance (traditional Chinese dance often performed during Chinese New Year) at the Murfreesboro Art Crawl in February and a Chinese New Year concert at the Wright Music Building on MTSU’s campus.
