RCFR Firefighter of the Year announced

Chief Larry Farley is proud to announce that Engineer Daniel Alexander has been chosen as Rutherford County’s Firefighter of the Year.

Engineer Alexander has been with the department for 4 years, in various roles – 2 years as a firefighter, 1 year as an Engineer and almost 10 months as acting Lt. for A shift at Station 52 on East Jefferson Pike.

Engineer Alexander displayed exceptional leadership skills when he stepped in the role of shift Lt to cover for the acting Lt who was injured and off duty for 10 months. During that time, from January to August 2018, Engineer Alexander completed EMT Basic School, started AEMT School at MTSU, and completed his Fire Officer 2 certification. While leading A shift as the acting Lt., he sat on the hiring committee, and continued his professional development by taking any class he could find.

In 2014, Daniel risked his own safety alongside other responders who worked to save the lives of a family of 4 who had become trapped in flood waters on Elam Mill Road. Without hesitation he entered the flooding creek and helped rescue the family from a vehicle that was already filling up with water. Engineer Alexander is very dedicated to his job and regardless of the circumstances, he can always be counted on.
