Five Senses chef bringing new steakhouse concept to Fountains at Gateway

Steakhouse Five, a new high-end steakhouse concept, has leased 3,552-square-feet of space and will open at Fountains at Gateway in early summer, announced developer Scott Graby, president of Hearthstone Properties.

Created by Mitchell Murphree, Executive Chef and owner of Five Senses restaurant in Murfreesboro, Steakhouse Five will feature premium quality meats and local produce as well as fresh seafood.

“We celebrated 15 years at Five Senses in November,” said Murphree. “With that, I’ve been planning an upscale steakhouse for some time and building a great team that would enable us to operate two restaurants. My grandparents raised livestock, my family ran a country ham business, and I was a member of the UT Knoxville meat judging team. You could say an appreciation for meat has been with me since I was born.

“At Five Senses, we have always called it ‘fun dining’. It has been a destination for people who love something different and seasonal. Steakhouse Five will deliver that same commitment to the highest quality food and hospitality.”

Steakhouse Five will be located on the ground floor of One Fountain Plaza, the four-story office building at Fountains at Gateway. The restaurant will seat up to 100 guests inside as well as 20 on the adjoining patio overlooking the main pocket park. Designed in a modern Southern theme with elegant historical accents, Steakhouse Five will feature a sophisticated main dining area, private dining room and a conservatory-style bar with a full-width glass door that opens to the patio.

“We are truly excited about our space at Fountains,” said Murphree. “We kept hearing that it is one of the few places you can go in town and feel like you’re in a ‘new Murfreesboro’. It has a hip, big city feel – a mix of entertainment, greenspace, high end shops and a salon; and a variety of eateries, from burgers and beer to ice cream sodas. It’s just a cool area to hang out.”

“Ever since planning began for Fountains at Gateway, we envisioned authentic chef-run restaurants as part of the fabric of the Fountains experience,” said Graby. “And a high-end steakhouse is what we felt Murfreesboro needed next.

“Mitchell’s Five Senses restaurant had been recommended to us numerous times, so we were elated when he decided to bring a steakhouse concept to Fountains. It’s a perfect fit.”
