Ford Officers of the Month
Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office
Two Sheriff’s school resource officers who possibly saved a suicidal student earned Officer of the Month awards for October and November from Ford of Murfreesboro.
SROs Larry McMahan and Casey McClure located the student and rescued him, said Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh.
“We are grateful our SROs tracked the information and possibly saved his life,” Fitzhugh said.
Owner Andy Obeissy of Ford of Murfreesboro presented watches to McMahan and McClure.
“Ford is proud to present watches to these officers,” Obeissy said. “We appreciate their service to our community.”
SRO Sgt. Irvin Turner said McMahan and SRO Mark Meshotto learned the student left school. While Meshotto gathered information, McMahan left the school to search for the student. Meshotto found out the student lived in an apartment complex where SRO Casey McClure is the courtesy officer.
McMahan and McClure went to the apartment where they found the student lying on the floor. Emergency Medical Services paramedics responded and took the student to the hospital for treatment.
“If not for the response and hasty actions of these SROs, a young life would have possibly been lost,” Turner said. “Words cannot express my appreciation for their efforts.”
