Fred Mitchell McCormick obituary

Mr. Fred Mitchell McCormick, age 89, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018. He was born in LaVergne, TN to the late Alfred Canada and Leathie Ann Willis McCormick. Mr. McCormick retired from the Maintenance Department at Nashville International Airport. He was a faithful member of Science Hill Church of Christ. Mr. McCormick enjoyed playing pool and cheering for Chase Elliott in Nascar.

Mr. McCormick is survived by his son, Tommy (Elizabeth) McCormick of Murfreesboro; daughters, Linda (Robert) Godsey of Murfreesboro and Janice (William, Jr.) O’Brien of Christiana, TN; step-daughters, Myrna (Shirley) Russell of Lafayette, TN and Modena Barton of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Matt (Kate) McCormick of Smyrna, Amy (Adam) Rowland of Murfreesboro, Curtis (Carla) O’Brien of Christiana, Clint (Kyla) O’Brien of Christiana, Carlena O’Brien of Christiana; and Caleb (Amanda) O’Brien of Bell Buckle, TN; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ethel Demumbreun McCormick; wife of 26 years, Evelyn Barton McCormick; four brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00am at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. John Hayter, Todd Turpin, and Jim Spivey will officiate. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Murfreesboro.
