Gary Sinise honors firefighters during 9/11 visit to Murfreesboro
Actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise visited the Doug Young Public Safety Training Center in Murfreesboro on Sept. 11, spending time with firefighters participating in the second annual firefighter training event.
The visit coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Sinise and his team served lunch to firefighters attending the training and thanked them for their dedication to keeping their communities safe.
As part of the event, participating firefighters received rescue slings, while all 44 fire departments represented received a thermal imaging camera. Firefighters also participated in hands-on training throughout the weekend.
“On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, I was grateful for the opportunity to serve those who serve us,” Sinise said. “Thank you to everyone who joined us in Murfreesboro, and God bless our first responders!”
The event provided firefighters an opportunity to sharpen their skills, receive valuable equipment and train alongside fellow first responders while honoring the legacy of service and sacrifice associated with Sept. 11.
