Gathering at Milton celebrates successful opening
Life returned to the tiny hamlet of Milton Saturday (Oct. 13) located northeast of Murfreesboro. After months of careful restoration, the former country store and adjoining grounds, buzzed with happy chatter and excitement during the opening celebration with a Fall Market and Craft Fair.
Organizers estimate more than 2,000 visitors attended from throughout Middle Tennessee and beyond that featured more than 50 artisans, food, music and children’s activities.
The building, which is more than 100 years old, is now known as The Gathering at Milton and will be used as a historic event venue.
Phillip and Alanna Vaught, the new owners of the property were on the grounds before sunrise and personally greeted many of those who attended the event. They both credited the strong contingency of local volunteers on the grounds with helping make the day go smoothly.
“Today was beyond amazing. I cannot begin to express how humbled and excited we were about the community turnout for the opening of The Gathering at Milton and our inaugural Fall Market and Craft Fair,” Alanna Vaught said. “I was brought to tears by the outpouring of support. It truly surpassed all of our expectations and we were pleased everyone had a great fall day.”
The Vaughts said they will hold a Milton Christmas Gathering holiday open house, which will be free to the public, on Saturday, Nov. 24, at a time to be announced.
