Gun theft at Bullseye Gun Gear & Pawn
On Tuesday, Feb. 26, at approximately 3:33 p.m., Murfreesboro Police officers responded to Bullseye Gun Gear & Pawn, 130 Shelby St., in reference to a panic alarm and possible theft.
Upon arrival, employees of the business had six male subjects detained in the parking lot. The individuals were then taken into custody by MPD officers.
Employees advised that three male subjects entered the business wanting to look at handguns. While holding the guns, two of the males ran out of the door with the firearms.
Employees gave chase and held the individuals, along with three others waiting in a get-away vehicle, at gunpoint until police arrived. Employees were able to retrieve the two stolen firearms from that vehicle, prior to officers arriving. Police also found two additional loaded handguns in the suspect’s vehicle.
Officers arrested Evan T. Bell, 21, of Chattanooga, and J’ Darrius J. Rice, 19, of Chattanooga. They are charged with Theft of Property. Bell was also charged with Criminal Impersonation.
Two 17-year old males, both from Chattanooga, were also charged with Theft of Property and were taken to the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center. The two other individuals were not charged.
An agent with Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) also arrived on the scene to follow up on an unrelated gun theft which occurred last Friday.
The case is still under investigation.
