Guns & Hoses Charity Boxing Event
The Murfreesboro Firefighters Local 3035 is hosting its first annual Guns & Hoses Charity Boxing Event. A group of local heroes will enter the Tri-Star Boxing ring on Friday, September 9 at the Mid-TN Expo Center in Murfreesboro, TN.
Proceeds for this exciting event will benefit Endure Athletics 501 and local amateur boxing programs in Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee.
“It’s an honor to support Endure Athletics and Champion’s Corner,” said Zach Fleenor, Treasurer Local 3035. “The work these organizations are doing has been remarkable. We are confident that they will continue to impact the lives of our kids here and appreciate getting to be a part of that. Thanks to everyone for their support.”
As a special attraction bout, two prominent regional boxing promoters will step out of their usual ringside roles and step into the ring to honor first responders and southern pride. Matt Young, a Murfreesboro firefighter for Local 3035 and Tri-Star Boxing CEO, will be tucking his hair up in headgear to show the fans just who is “Bossman” of the ring. Young, 40, will be making his Guns & Hoses ring debut. Billy Blea, an EMS provider from Hamilton County and CEO of Southpaw Promotions, will move around the ring in an entirely different set of boots for the three-round contest. Blea, 49, boasts a solid 4-1 record in Guns & Hoses events.
Young and Blea are friends outside of the ring and colleagues around it, but the two have something special planned for the other once they step inside. The two faced off in the ring to promote the event during a Tri-Star Boxing promotion on August 20 th amid an eruption of applause from the fans.
Walter Waite, the in the ring voice of Tri-Star Boxing, will be back announcing the card as it unfolds at the Mid-TN Expo Center.
