Harold C. Gaither obituary

Harold C. Gaither, age 78 of the Midland Community, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020. A native of Cannon County, he was the son of the late Sam Blanks and Dewey Nella King Gaither. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ricky and Gerald Gaither, and a sister, Glenda Mankin.

Mr. Gaither is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eloise Wood Gaither; daughter, Paula Baxter and her husband Ralph; son, Brian Gaither and his wife Christy all of the Midland Community; grandchildren, Kason Baxter and his wife Brooke, Ellie Kate Baxter, Tyler and Trent Gaither; brother, Tommy Gaither and his wife Kim of Murfreesboro, TN. He also had many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Victory Baptist Church, 2200 N. Main St. Shelbyville, TN 37160. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at Victory Baptist Church with Brother Loyd Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the Smotherman Cemetery in Midland with Richard Ward, Scott Nichols, Milton Williams, Terry Clark, Bobby Logue, and Willard Romans serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Hill, Joe Roberts, James Coursey, Herman Williams, Bing Spence, and Bill Auberry.

Mr. Gaither was a member of Victory Baptist Church for over 50 years, a US Marine veteran who served multiple tours in the Mediterranean across Italy and Greece. He also served in the Philippines and Japan. He was very proud to be a Marine. Mr. Gaither was a retired electrician from S & W Electric.

He had a passion for farming and fishing with his friends and family and most of all with his grandchildren.
