Healthcare Heroes Recognize Donor Heroes

At Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West, caregivers and other associates gathered at noon to raise the “Donate Life” flag. This white, green, and blue flag is a symbol of gratitude for organ, eye, and tissue donors. The flag also serves to raise awareness of the fact that, on any given day, approximately 114,000 Americans are waiting for a transplant. Sadly, about 20 Americans die each day because they did not receive a potentially life-saving transplant in time.

April is National Donate Life Month and April 26 through 30th is Donate Life Celebration Week at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West. Throughout this week, healthcare heroes will be wearing green and blue, participating in a prayer vigil, and using their voices to raise awareness of organ, eye, and tissue donation. If you would like to interview a hospital associate who has given the gift of life by becoming a living donor, please contact me at [email protected].
