Jan. 22 Ceremony to honor decades of service that shaped Murfreesboro’s future

The City of Murfreesboro and elected City leaders will gather to proudly celebrate and honor ten extraordinary individuals as inaugural recipients of the Legacy Recognition Program. These honorees are more than former employees – they are visionaries, trailblazers, and dedicated public servants whose commitment has shaped the fabric of Murfreesboro. The honorees made lasting contributions to the City’s advancement, enrichment, and community well-being as “City Legacies” during their public service to the City.

From pioneering initiatives that improved the quality of life to fostering a culture of excellence in public service, their influence continues to shape the City and resonates across generations. The ceremony is not just recognition – it is a heartfelt tribute to those whose contributions have extended beyond their job titles. They represent decades of innovation, resilience, and public service that propelled Murfreesboro forward. Their efforts have:

  • Enhanced quality of life through parks, public spaces, and community programs
  • Strengthened public trust by upholding integrity and excellence in City operations
  • Drove economic growth by support infrastructure and initiatives that attract businesses and create opportunities
  • Built a lasting sense of community through programs that prioritize safety, education, and engagement

The City of Murfreesboro Legacy Program, launched in June 2025, invited the public to nominate retired City employees whose careers exemplify dedication, integrity, and impact to the community to be selected as “Legacies.” The Legacy Recognition program is designed to formally recognize and honor eligible retired employees who have made significant and lasting contributions to the advancement, enrichment, and betterment of the Murfreesboro community.
