Jerry Collins obituary

Jerry Leo Collins, age 80 passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2018. He was born in Grant County, Indiana to the late Glen and Emma Collins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, John E. Collins, two sisters, Jackie Justus and Sarah Carter.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 9:00pm Wednesday at Smyrna Church of the Nazarene, 404 Overton Drive, Smyrna, TN 37167

Funeral service will be 3:00pm Thursday at Smyrna Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Tony Clemons and Rev. Scott Collins will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be 11:00am Friday at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, TN 37211.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 61years, Peggy, four sons, Mike (Danny B), Danny (Louise), Tim (LeAnn), Mark (Linda), 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, five sisters, Joan, Janet, Glenna, Rosalie (Bill), Ruth (Jim), and a host of relatives and friends.

He served his country in the US Air force and US Postal service for a combined 32 years before retirement.

Jerry was a member of Smyrna Church of the Nazarene since 1969, where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and taught Sunday School for many years. His favorite verse was John 13:34. He would remind everyone “TO LOVE ONE Another”.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1629 Williams Drive, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Tennessee Chapter, 404 BN Drive, Suite 102, Nashville, TN 37217-2571 in his memory.
