Joel Thomas Blair obituary

Joel Thomas Blair, age 60 of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his father Gayle Norman Blair, and stepfather James O. Johnson. He is survived by his mother Alice Miller Johnson, life partner Beth Fanning, sister Melissa Blair Wright (Don), and a host of other family members and friends.

Born in Warren County, Joel spent most of his life in Murfreesboro. He was an Eagle Scout and a 1979 graduate of Oakland High School. He spent his career working in the tire business, including many years as an employee of the Jennings Tire Company and most recently at Ford of Murfreesboro’s Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center. Always with a smile on his face and helpful attitude, he attracted a loyal customer base that followed him wherever he went. No matter the situation, you could count on Joel for assistance, and he would leave you with his signature phrase, “it’s all good!” After work and on the weekends, he could be found enjoying a NASCAR race, watching the UT Vols, or attending a Tennessee Titans game. His favorite pastime was spending time on the lake on his boat.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM following the visitation with Chaplain Bill Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gayle N. Blair Memorial Scholarship through the MTSU Foundation or the charity of your choice.
