La Vergne officer and K-9 partner arrest one man after foot pursuit

An officer and his K-9 partner were able to track down a man who fled the scene of a crime this morning thanks to an observant public works employee.

A gas store clerk contacted police after confronting the suspect, identified as Od Keomuangtai (44), who he believed was using a stolen credit card to purchase gas at the Pilot Travel Center on Waldron Road at Interstate 24. The suspect took off on foot after getting into a confrontation with the clerk. The passenger who was with Keomuangtai left the scene in the vehicle. That subject has not been apprehended.

A public works employee noticed Keomuangtai running through a wooded area behind Bridgestone Firestone Distribution Center. Officers were able to set up a perimeter and Officer Darby and his K-9 Sjaak were able to track him down and take him into custody without incident.

Keomuangtai is charged with resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search, theft of property, drug simple possession/casual exchange, and unlawful drug paraphernalia uses. His bond was set in the amount of $3,500.
