Lady A Helps Build House for Elderly Couple
Grammy Award winning trio, Lady A, teamed up with Cornerstone Building Brands and Habitat for Humanity to replace vinyl siding and windows to improve the safety and beautify the home of an elderly couple in need.
We were lucky enough to capture Lady A in a candid moment with the couple singing to them and even WITH them!
Here’s the official press release about the event:
Cornerstone Building Brands, Inc. (“Cornerstone Building Brands”), a leading manufacturer of exterior building products in North America, was joined today by GRAMMY® Award-winning country music trio Lady A at the company’s Home for Good® project home renovation in Murfreesboro, Tenn., a Nashville suburb. Lady A’s Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott took up tools, rolled up their sleeves, and worked with local Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity and Cornerstone Building Brands employee volunteers to replace vinyl siding and windows to improve the safety and beautify the home of an elderly couple in need.
James Mitchell, a 90-year-old with a heart condition, and his wife, 88-year-old Christine, have resided in their home for more than 25 years. They applied to Habitat for Humanity’s Critical Home Repair program to address modification and maintenance issues. Cornerstone Building Brands’ Home for Good project supports this effort to provide homeowners with health and safety-minded home repairs, which is critical, yet often unaffordable, for many people like the Mitchells. Older Americans are one of the fastest-growing demographics in the country. By 2030, 20 percent of the U.S. population will be 65 or older. Yet, more than 19 million older adults are living in homes that are in disrepair or ill-equipped to safely meet their needs.
“We were happy to help remodel their home and enhance its curb appeal with new Mastic® siding and energy-efficient Simonton® windows,” said Susan Selle, Chief Marketing Officer of Cornerstone Building Brands who was an onsite volunteer. “This repair work and the Home for Good project, represents our continued commitment to ensuring communities have safe and well-maintained homes. We were so excited Lady A joined us not only to lend a hand but also to raise awareness and deliver greater impact through their roles as ambassadors.”
“It was really special to be onsite to be able to see first-hand the wonderful work Cornerstone Building Brands’ employees and Habitat for Humanity are doing to help support families like the Mitchells,” said Lady A’s Hillary Scott. “We’re honored to be a small part of making the dream of having a safe home a reality for everyone.”
In partnership with global nonprofit Habitat for Humanity, Cornerstone Building Brands established its Home for Good project initiative in 2016 as part of its commitment to donate building products, facilitate home builds and spearhead volunteer efforts to promote affordable housing across North America. Donated building products include Mastic vinyl siding; Simonton and Ply Gem windows; and Ply Gem® exterior accessories. So far this year, the Home for Good project already has contributed to 60 home builds and donated more than $450,000 in product value. It is expected to support approximately 100 Habitat for Humanity builds and remodels through the end of 2024. Habitat for Humanity relies on the quality, affordability and ease of installation of Cornerstone Building Brands’ donated vinyl siding, windows, metal roofing and accessories to build and repair houses in partnership with families in need of safe and affordable housing.
To date, Cornerstone Building Brands has donated more than $3.4 million in products and resources to help build or remodel more than 720 homes in 135 communities. Partnering with country music stars who serve as Home for Good project ambassadors serves to spotlight and amplify the project’s cause and mission.
