Leland Manahan obituary

Leland D. Manahan, age 68 of Smyrna, died unexpectedly January 3, 2019. He was born in Fairfield Iowa and grew up in Roberts, IL. He was the son of the late, Douglas and Betty Thomas Manahan. Mr. Manahan retired from the United States Army, after 21 years of active duty. He also worked for the State of TN, and the Veterans Administration. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He was deeply loved by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Manahan; children, Joseph Leland Manahan and Fiancé Mary Ashley Pope of Smyrna, Julie McKemie and husband Warren McKemie of Richmond of VA; Father-in-law, Joseph C. Walters of Laceys Spring AL; sister, Jane Manahan of New Mexico; brother, William Manahan and, Robert Manahan of Illinois, Douglas James Manahan and, Larry Manahan of Arizona, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials may be made to Pets for Vets or Permission to Start Dreaming. Visitation will be 2:00PM until 4:00PM Thursday January 10, 2019 at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Funeral Service will be 4:00PM Thursday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna with Military Honors.
