LPD officers make felony armed robbery arrest on I-24

Two people were taken into custody this morning following an August BOLO put out by the Smyrna Police Department.

LPD arrested Jacob Macdonald, 29, and Sydney Sorrell, 23, on Interstate 24 near mile marker 58 at 8:00 a.m. on October 2, 2019. They will be taken to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office to be booked. Charges are pending.

The officer was working a crash with Metro Nashville Police when he recognized the vehicle, plates and driver after they drove passed him while assisting MNPD with a stop this morning. He was able to follow the vehicle and pull them over on the interstate without incident. Both the McDonald and Sorrell are wanted in connection to an armed robbery warrant issued by Smyrna PD on August 18, 2019. The BOLO identified Macdonald and Sorrell as suspects in an armed robbery in Smyrna where a victim’s cell phone was taken.

The same officer who made today’s arrest attempted to pull the driver over on August 19. He went on a pursuit into Nashville but was unable to stop the driver and discontinued the pursuit at that time.
