LPD releases first Crime Safety Analysis
The first Crime Safety Analysis produced by the La Vergne Police Department is now available to the public. From January 1 through February 29 the reported crimes include:
- 13 assaults
- 125 domestic assaults
- 5 robberies
- 44 thefts
- 35 burglaries
- 29 thefts from cars
- 10 vehicle thefts
- 17 stolen vehicle recoveries
Of the thefts from motor vehicles all victims left their vehicles unlocked and four firearms were stolen from those unlocked cars. The total value stolen was $9,942. Cars were typically most vulnerable on Monday and Friday evenings between 9 pm and midnight. LPD always urges citizens to lock their vehicles every night and bring in all valuables and guns.
10 vehicles were stolen in La Vergne in January and February. Last year only seven vehicles had been reported stolen in the same timeframe. Officers were able to recover 17 stolen vehicles in January and February. Vehicles were most likely to be stolen on Sunday afternoons between 3 pm and 8 pm as well as at various times on Friday.
Since the new year 18 overdoses were reported in La Vergne; one overdose resulted in a death.
There were 204 reported crashes in January and February. 176 were non-injury crashes, 26 had injuries and two people were killed.
Officers conducted 1,655 traffic stops. 38 traffic stops were for DUI and resulted in arrests and 84 traffic stops resulted in drug violations.
The Waldron Road and Murfreesboro Road Site Map shows approximate locations of where crashes or multiple crashes occurred. The blue symbol reports where an ambulance responded to a crash due to an injury.
On Waldron Road the most likely times for crashes are on Thursdays at two pm and Friday mornings from 5 am – Noon. The most likely place for a wreck is on Industrial Blvd at Waldron Road where 38 non-injury and six injury crashes have been reported.
For Murfreesboro Road crashes are most likely to happen on Fridays at 4 pm, Thursdays at 2 pm and Tuesdays at 7 pm. The most likely location of a wreck is at the Murfreesboro Road/Waldron Road intersection where 44 non-injury and seven injury crashes were reported.
LPD expects to continue to release Crime Safety Analysis on a monthly basis.
