Main Street Murfreesboro Friday Night Live Concert Series Updated for the Season
Main Street Murfreesboro, a nonprofit organization, has hosted free community concerts in the historic downtown since 2005. “For 19 years Main Street has used the power of music to bring our community together and create a sense of place for everyone,” said Sarah Callender, Executive Director.
The Friday Night Live summer series is held outdoors June-October. The free concerts run from 6:30-9:30 pm and feature a local cover band performing in front of the Rutherford County Historic Courthouse. The public square entrance is blocked for the evening’s concert and people bring chairs and sit in the square to listen to music. Local restaurants are open around the square and there are also a variety of food trucks. Free parking is available downtown and attendees are encouraged to park in the City Hall Parking Garage off Vine Street, one block from the public square. Streets to be closed starting at 5:30 PM include the entrance to the public square from N. Maple Street, South Church Street off West Vine Street, and East Main Street at the intersection of Spring Street.
July’s Friday Night Live was canceled due to a concern for weather, but the scheduled O’Donnell’s band will now be performing at the August 2nd concert. The Nashville Alternators, originally set to perform on August 2nd, are no longer performing. The September 20th concert will feature Bizz and Everyday People (R&B).
Main Street Murfreesboro will make up the missed July concert on a newly added date, October 25th, featuring The Pilots Band. This is the first time a Friday Night Live concert has been offered in October. “It should be fun to have a fall concert!” stated Callender. “We want to make sure we get in our four promised free concerts this season thanks to our presenting sponsor Wilson Bank and Trust and supporting sponsors.
The O’Donnells consist of Darryl, Julie, and Klinton. This Nashville-based trio brings a variety of musical influences together to create an honest and refreshing sound. This highly unusual combination sets the stage for them to put on a show that ranges from traditional country, gospel, bluegrass, and early rock and is bound to please audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Whether you prefer to dance up front or relax in a chair, there’s space for everyone to enjoy the music. Make sure to arrive early to grab a spot and maybe even have supper at one of the charming downtown restaurants.
The Friday Night Live concert series is presented by Wilson Bank and Trust. Main Street is thankful for many supporting sponsors of this series including Uncle Nearest, MTSU, Murfreesboro Nissan, Murfreesboro Eye Center, Rural 1st, Rutherford Convention and Visitors Bureau, and grants from the Community Foundation and TN. Arts Commission.
