Mayor Welcomes York as County’s New Director of OIT

Mayor Bill Ketron welcomes Cody York as Rutherford County’s new Director of the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

York, whose first day was Tuesday, comes to the County from the Tennessee Secretary of State’s Office where he served as Director under the leadership of Tre Hargett. There, he managed the day-to-day operations of the Division of Business Services for a year and a half, led the publications division for eight years, and oversaw the production of the Tennessee Blue Book and the Tennessee Administrative Registry. York participated in the redesign of the Secretary of State’s website and the development and implementation of several apps including the first smartphone application, “GoVoteTN.”

He previously served in other roles for the Secretary of State’s Office including Public Policy Advisor and Assistant Director. Before working for the State, he was a small business owner and ran York Consulting for nearly a decade.

A resident of the Rockvale community, York received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science from Maryville College and Masters of Arts in Political Management from George Washington University. “I am looking forward to serving the citizens of the County I call home,” York said.

“Cody’s experience, expertise, and proven ability to effectively lead in the government sector, will make him a great asset to our County,” said Mayor Bill Ketron.
